Lei Wei
Lei Wei received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biological Sciences at Tsinghua University, China. He obtained his doctoral degree in molecular biology and Genetics in Dr. Xiaolan Zhao’s lab in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. His doctoral research was focused on the detailed molecular mechanisms of regulation of DNA replication and repair. In particular, he demonstrated versatile functions of SUMO in regulating DNA replication and DNA damage response. He then developed an interest in the interface of DNA repair machinery and HBV virus, and joined Alexander Ploss lab at Princeton University to investigate how HBV genome is repaired into cccDNA. Wei is the recipient of multiple awards, including the postdoctoral fellowship award of New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research.
